My research was conducted in 2007 using a survey of women who had given birth. The survey generated over 150 responses on the spiritual aspects of birth, from conception to labor, with particular emphasis on intuition, dreams, and divine guidance.
The Presence article focuses on the implications of birth as a spiritual event for individuals and practitioners involved in spiritual direction.
mywomb
MyWomb.net is a project begun in March 2006 by Betsy Leighton to honor the beauty of all women. Betsy created the MyWomb collage kit to guide women in exploring their relationship with their belly as the center of deep emotion, intuition, and creativity. Betsy has facilitated MyWomb workshops at Pathways in Minneapolis and has created this web log as a place to share photos of womb collages, womb stories and to connect with other women around issues that are central to womanhood: birth, coming-of-age, pregnancy, fertility, mothering and exploring our Divine femininity.
mywomb kits
Using the tools contained in this Kit you will be guided through a process of self-exploration to write your womb’s story and to create a paper collage womb as a symbol of your womanhood.
mywomb workshops
Gather your girlfriends, and with the tools contained in the mywomb© kit, Betsy guides your group through
a process of self-exploration, sharing and fun! Betsy has led My Beautiful Womb classes at Pathways Health Resource Center in Minneapolis.
The womb piece I created “Gaia’s Waters” was published in Volume 12 No. 4 — December 2006, of Presence: An International Journal of Spiritual Direction.
